Q1. I forgot my Approval Password. How do I reset it?
A1. We do not keep the record of Approval Password. It stores locally on your computer. To reset the approval password download and re-install the Family Safety software. Re-installation will allow you reset the approval password.
Q2. Is it supported on Windows Vista? I installed Internet Family Safety on Windows Vista. Even though I am using Administrator User account, I cannot change settings of Family Safety toolbar.
A2. Windows Vista has introduce another layer of security in Administrator User accounts. The user Account, which is used for Parental Approval and to install Family Safety toolbar, must be modified as follows:
- Step-1: Go to "Control Panel" -> "User Accounts and Family Safety" --> "User Accounts" --> "Turn User Account Control on or off".
- Step-2: Make sure that the checkbox of "Use UAC to help protect your computer" is NOT checked.
Q3. How do I manually add my trusted websites, and all its sub-websites?
A3. Manually adding trusted website is useful in many cases. When you add a top-level website such as "mybank.com" as trusted, Approval Password will not be required for all the sub-websites of "mybank.com" such as "onlinebank.mybank.com", "creditcard.mybank.com", "homeloan.mybank.com"etc. While, automatically adding trusted website using checkbox in approval window will add only the very specific website such as "onlinebank.mybank.com".
To add a trusted website manually:
- Step-1: Click the "Family Saftey" toolbar on your browser. It will prompt you for Approval Password, and present you with "Family Safety Setting" screen.
- Step-2: Add the top-level website in the section "Trusted websites: Approval Password NOT required"
